Our Parent Representatives form part of the Group Trustee Board and we ideally like to have two parents from each section on our Group Trustee Board which means we have eight parent representatives from across the Scout Group. About the role Parent Representatives are really important part of our Scout Group, and they play a valuable role in the management of the Group. The role of the Parent Representatives is to bring the parents and young people’s voice to the Trustee Board (who make important decisions for the Scout Group – i.e., subscription fee, meeting venues, section budgets, fundraising options etc). This is not a full-time commitment, but you will need to attend up to Six Trustee Board Meetings every year which are held currently via Zoom on the 2nd Monday of a Month, for a maximum of 1½ hours between 19:30 – 21:00 (March, May, July, October, December plus the AGM in January). There is some initial training requirements to help you in the role of Parent Representative from the Scout Association which are all via e-learning and can be done over the first 5 months;
As part of the volunteers incentive for everyone that becomes a Parent Representative will be given a £15.00 discount on the Yearly Subscriptions or an activity or nights away experience as long as attendance at the minimum number of meetings a year has been met.
